Enjoy farm fresh eggs from our amazing Ameraucana Easter Eggers and Laced Wyandottes. Our eggs are handpicked once daily to ensure freshness. We are one of Lincoln counties few suppliers of farm fresh eggs, and we take what we do seriously. And we seriously pamper our chickens! At this time we have under two dozen chickens, meaning our supply of eggs is limited. But we are looking to grow. Why buy Farm Fresh Versus Store Bought?
Sometimes people ask us, what’s the big deal with farm fresh eggs? Why should I buy eggs from you and not from the grocery store? Why are your chicken’s eggs not white? Well you eager question asker, there are many reasons you should eat farm fresh eggs whenever possible instead of the grocery store eggs. And the reason almost all the eggs at the grocery store are white is because most commercial egg production facilities all have the exact same kind of chicken, the Leghorn. Leghorns are the worlds most efficient egg layers. They’re small, don’t eat much, and hens usually produce an egg a day, making Leghorns an obvious choice for commercial operations. But commercial operations typically have the chickens caged, or contained in restrictive spaces that don’t allow the chickens to be, well chickens! At LBCF we allow our chickens to all the chicken things they want.
Farm Fresh Egg Benefits
- More Nutritious (darker colored yokes)
- Richer Flavor
- Cruelty Free
- Healthy Living Conditions
- Freshness Guaranteed
Just to brush up on the above points, if you’ve ever held a farm fresh egg in your hands, then you’ve probably noticed that they’re heavier than store bought eggs. This is for a number of reasons. Store bought eggs can be anywhere between a week to 8 months old when they’re on the shelves (2 months on average) and eggs loose nutritious value as they age. With farm fresh ages you’ll know the eggs exact age, and will be able to physically feel more nutrient density. Furthermore when you crack a farm fresh egg, you’ll notice the yolk is darker in color. Once again that’s due to freshness and more nutrients! And if you’ve ever tasted farm fresh eggs than you know that they taste way better than store bought! You’ll also be able to eat your eggs knowing that the chickens are in a safe, healthy, environment where they are loved and cared for.
